Confused much?
I overhear Georgia talking about how her “mother is going to be so worried.” So I ask: “Do you know who your mother is?” Georgia: “Yea, gramma.” Me: “No, I’m your mother.” Georgia: “You’re not my mother, you’re my grandfather.” Me: “No, I’m your mother and gramma is your grandmother.” Georgia:...

ri0t-mama-deactivated20110731 asked: i was having contractions literally nonstop for hours and not progressing at all even after cytotec twice and pitocin. and it didn't help to turn the pitocin down... so i got an epidural so i can sleep. i'm feeling a little defeated cause everything went completely opposite of how i'd hoped but pretty much too exhausted to care at this point
ps. thanks for eing my tumblr...

Oh my...
Kids are in bed sleeping. Ray is in Alberton playing basketball. I’m alone watching Ghost Adventures; freaking out as they face the notorious “Mr. Boots” in the famed Edinburgh Vaults.

Report cards, family history, & spring break.
Georgia and Shea completed their first session of swim lessons last week and they both passed with flying colors. They each received a report card for their respective classes and were so excited to get them. Georgia’s teacher, Kelsey, wrote her an awesome note: Georgia! Good job this month! You are so good at blowing bubbles & your front/back floats look awesome! Keep trying to go...

Over the last few weeks a lot has gone on. Ray had his hand surgery on Thursday 3/10 and it was great success and the <—-giant cyst is all gone. His stitches get removed this afternoon and all with his hand will return back to normal! Ray has also returned back to school today after a week of Spring Break. Unfortunately for us, our breaks were weeks apart and I was so busy studying for...

Goings On...
On Monday evening, Georgia & Shea began their first swim lessons at the Grizzly Pool. Georgia is in a class with three other girls, while Shea is in a Parent/Toddler class with Ray and about five other parent/kiddo teams. Both kids did amazing and Shea excitedly jumped off the side to Ray numerous times. He also swam on his back! Georgia did great (even though I only saw a few short minutes...

The Birth of Baby Three
It’s been a VERY long time since I’ve blogged and I’m not exactly sure why. But, better late than never and I’ve finally got the birth story typed up and ready for reading. It’s not my best work (I’ve been slacking on my writing…), but here it is none-the-less: The Birth of Marley Nola Things began on Saturday November 27th. I was feeling a bit off and...

Closer & closer
So after the fourth night in a row of irregular, yet intense contractions, belly cramps and back aches I figured it was a good time to call Sandhano. We talked for a while and she told me she’d come over around 1 pm on Sunday (tomorrow) to check me out. Throughout the conversation she kept hinting at coming today, but never came right out and said it. Then right before we got off the...

Brined turkey, yummy pie, & lots o'contractions
Ahh, Thanksgiving. Wonderful food, great company, and just a grand old time every year. Our Thanksgiving dinner was absolutely scrumptious. Ray soaked our fresh Hutterite turkey in a homemade brine for 24 hours. It was, by far, the most deliciously moist turkey I’d ever eaten, and something tells me our turkey will be brined every year. He made homemade mashed potatoes, green bean...

Three weeks...?
We find ourselves at 35 weeks pregnant and I cannot get over just how fast this whole thing has gone.  I look back at pictures of Georgia and Shea as babies and I cannot believe they were ever that small. And then I can’t believe that we’re going to have another little baby in our house. Sandhano came today for a prenatal. Baby’s heartbeat was strong- it sounded amazing. Ray...

Itchy. Drowsy. Achy. Happy.
*Note: I had a lot of fun with links in this one. I was link-happy Itchy. Drowsy. Achy. Happy. No, I’m not referring to any of Snow White’s dwarfs (although Itchy would be the one I’d kick out first), I’m referring to me. All 34 weeks and one day pregnant me. My belly is so itchy, and not scratching it is one of the hardest things. I rub it. A lot. Maybe part of me is...

Trick or treating, Braxton-Hicks, and a new last...
The past few days have been fun-filled, exciting, and down-right awesome. Sunday was spent watching football and trick or treating. The kids had a blast going to all the houses. Anytime a person would let them pick their own candy, Shea would stick his hand deep into that bowl and up he’d come with 5-8 pieces of candy. It was wonderful. Two hours worth of houses and the Astronaut Georgia...

Pregnant, kidless, & unproductive
So today I took Georgia & Shea out to Alberton to hang out with gramma at the bookstore. Keren was traveling around New England (*jealous*) for 10 days and couldn’t wait to take the kids. We relunctantly (sarcasm) handed our kids over in exchange for two days of quiet study time. Well for me, it looks like it will be more like one day (Tuesday) because I have been extremely unproductive...

Insert foot in ribs
I spent most of last night pushing little baby feet out of my ribs and now I am so ridiculously tired. Just had to get that out there. Gotta get ready for A&P, back home to pick up the kids from Jasmin’s, hopefully get a nap in after lunch, then back up to school to study some bones for my lab exam on Friday morning. Short & sweet :)

31 weeks
Sandhano came over today for our prenatal and yet again everything is looking/sounding/measuring/going fabulously. However, I have been dealing with some issues lately…. The last week or so my ribs have been pretty achy and its evident that time has arrived where baby three will be all up in my ribs until birth day. My heartburn has seemed to be getting worse and Sandhano was able to tell...

17 1/2 hours and a Ruby at the end of the day...
Very early Wednesday (10/13) I received the phone call from Rita that she was officially in labor. I clumsily got dressed in the dark then stumbled into the bathroom to wash my face with some cold water. Luckily I had all my stuff packed already so I didn’t have much to worry about besides sleepily falling down the stairs on my way to the car. With contractions being 5 minutes apart and a...

Letter to Myself
This was written thanks to the inspiration of my wonderful friend Erin. Here is her letter to herself pre-baby. Jen-   You’re about to find out that your past few days of flu-like symptoms aren’t actually the flu, but that you are in fact in your 7th or 8th week of pregnancy and the newest (and scariest, most exciting) chapter of your life is about to begin.   These last few years have just been...

Three little birds...
We had a prenatal appointment yesterday and things are progressing beautifully… Baby three is head down (yay!), heartbeat was steadily between 140-150, and we had a nice growth spurt over the last month (the not-so baby bump is measuring 31 cm). The littlest one moves around so much all day- and all night. A little acrobat this one is… Most days I feel like baby three is a boy,...

Like a Chinese cabbage
Okay, so it’s been two months since I’ve last written, which probably puts me in the running for World’s Worst Blogger. Oops. As I write this I’m 28 weeks + 4 days, which according to babycenter.com is like a Chinese cabbage (which I personally love in a good old stir fry dish with noodles, yum yum.) I look and feel more like there’s a basketball in their, but...

I Will Birth at Home
The day we found out we were pregnant with our first child was a truly amazing day. How different things were going to become and while I think most people believe that parenthood officially begins the day a baby enters this world, I believe it truly begins the day you decide to where and how you will give birth. I grew up in New York where I never knew anyone who birthed outside of a...

It's an apple pie baby
Wow. Its been far too long since I’ve last written- my ridiculous writer’s block totally got the best of me. We’ve reached twelve weeks- amazing. I can’t believe how fast it seems to be going. How could that be? It feels like just yesterday we found out, which in all realty was actually April 20th- a fairly long time ago. Baby is now the size of a lime. Cute. Little....

Happy Uterus
Yesterday was our first appointment with Sandhano, our midwife. It was so wonderful being at her home again. It had been almost two years since we’d be there, but everything was so familiar and it just seemed…right. Like just about any other visit I’d ever had at Sandhano’s, I went into the bathroom, peed in the little cup & weighed myself. I was pleasantly surprised...

Man, labor is so psychedelic
One of my favorite things to read during pregnancy is Ina May Gaskin’s “Spiritual Midwifery.” I truly believe that everybody who wishes to have a child (or more children) should the read this book— even dads or anyone else who would be attending a birth. The book is KIND OF similar to a “What to Expect…” book in that it gives you prenatal and pregnancy...

My special Mother's Day pendent
This is my very special Mother’s Day gift. I absolutely love it. I do have lots to write, but do not have the mental energy to do it right now, so be looking out for a new blog post within the next few days. I hope all you mommy-figures had a wonderful Mother’s Day.

Seed - Bean- Berry
Oh! Baby Sesame is officially the size of a blueberry. That’s right, a sweet little blueberry. Its seriously no wonder I cannot stop thinking about food (and if you’re a Facebook friend of mine, you’ve definitely noticed how much I like food). It is still such a surreal feeling that we’re pregnant again. The other day we saw a little one that was probably just over a year...

The Birth of a Mother
I had to write a personal essay for a class a few semesters ago & this is what I wrote: It is the morning of December 7th and I awake with the strange sensation of needing a toilet. I go into the bathroom and after sitting for what seems like forty-five minutes, nothing comes out. This series of events goes on for another hour until it hits me- I’m in labor. I go over to the green...
